In 2022, we expanded the range to include targets at 25, 50, 100, and 200 yards. Future plans include creating a covered

shooting platform & benches and an automated gated entrance. Club members have exclusive access to our range.

NOTICE:

We host a Hunter Safety class each fall for hunting enthusiasts of all ages to learn firearm safety and
become certified to hunt in Wisconsin. Watch our Facebook page or check gowild.wi.gov for class dates.

GENERAL RULES

​

• Hearing & eye protection is required while on the range.

• All users are responsible for safe shooting activities and practices. Proper Firearms handling and safety is mandatory! Unsafe acts or negligence will result in loss of range privileges and risk closure of the range! If the range is abused, the range will be closed! The range property is monitored at all times.

• Rifles, pistols, and shotgun slugs only. Shotguns with shot shells may be patterned for hunting purposes only. No clay pigeon or thrown object shooting on the Rifle Range.

• Fully Automatic Weapons are PROHIBITED at this range! Armor piercing, incendiary, flare, and tracer ammunition is PROHIBITED. No tannerite or explosive devices are allowed on the range!

• Members will use the club-provided target backer-boards to place their paper targets in designated sections. Do not place targets or shoot through backer board supports.

• Remove and dispose of targets, litter and spent/dud casings/shells before leaving the range. Please use the trash cans and DO NOT SHOOT THE TRASH CANS! All members must help keep the range area clean. You make the mess, you clean it up!

• All shooting will be confined within the range safety markers (red poles) visible on either side of the range lane. There will be no uncontrolled or random firing into the woods adjacent to the range. DO NOT SHOOT THE TREES!!

FIRING RULES (Safety, Safety, Safety)

• No person is allowed to handle firearms while others are down range. The firearm action will be open and the magazine detached whenever anyone is down range.

• Always point firearms down range when at the firing line.

• Shooters will announce to others prior to commencing firing. "RANGE IS HOT!" No one is allowed down range when the range is HOT!

• When rounds are complete, shooters will safety and clear firearms and accounts "RANGE IS CLEAR!" Shooters may then proceed down range to check targets. Safe communication is key! Cataract Sportsmen's Club is not responsible for accidents, loss, injuries, or theft on this range.

 

THE RANGE IS OFFERED FOR USE TO OUR CLUB MEMBERS AND IS A PRIVILEGE FOR USERS! PLEASE TREAT THE RANGE WITH RESPECT! THE CLUB MAY CLOSE THE RANGE FOR MISUSE OR MAINTENANCE AT ANY TIME. THANK YOU.
